about.
Hi! I'm Abby- I'm excited you're here!
I recently graduated from The University of Alabama with degrees in Spanish and philosophy and minors in research and neuroscience. I love all kinds of art projects, from acrylic portraiture to ceramic sculpture, and love music, too (some of my favorite artists are Indigo Girls, Hozier, and The Avett Brothers)! In my gap year, I am interning for Dr. Bob Art in New Orleans and applying to J.D./Ph.D. programs- I'm fueled by a passion to leverage myself for social justice and a love of learning.
I started my art hobby in 2020 while in lockdown with the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, commissioning paintings for donations to BLM-adjacent organizations. More recently, I have completed projects for law school diversity centers and raised money for refugees seeking asylum across the Egypt border. I hope to continue using my art for such advocacy.
Beyond all that, I enjoy reading theology and gender/race study literature (recommendations are welcome), as well as playing guitar, cooking, and editing friends' writing!

I'm wanting this website to be a portfolio of my projects, and I appreciate you following along- feel free to join the fun on Instagram, too! @heywhatareupainting

Please reach out with questions about buying/commissioning any projects! Or to give book/music recommendations! Ttys!
